“Be a CEO; Date a CEO” Mentorship Programme

Town Ray has always been committed to promoting the rejuvenation of Hong Kong's industry. Apart from the establishment of a Hong Kong-based R&D center, Town Ray also actively participates in various projects to promote local talent development. Mr. Yu Kowk Wai, Executive Director of the Group, joined as mentor in the “Be a CEO; Date a CEO” Mentorship Programme co-organized by the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) and the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council (HKYIC). The programme provides internship opportunities for local university students.

“Be a CEO; Date a CEO” Mentorship Programme aims to encourage students to learn from the leaders of the local industry in a more lively and diversified way. Students can understand different kinds of management knowledge and be cultivated to become future management talents with a macro vision. The first phase of the event was officially launched in October 2021. students deepened their understanding of industrial development through interaction with their tutors. In the first phase, Mr. Yu Kwok Wai was invited to be the host of the board game event. He shared with students their career stories in running business in a relaxed atmosphere. The second phase was launched in January 2022. Three selected students under Mr. Yu Kwok Wai’s mentorship learn about business planning and projects in different fields. Each student has been assigned an independent project which applies the knowledge from their major study so that they can apply what they have learnt from school in reality, and gain experience from practice.

The whole event ended in April, and the organizers held a sharing session on May 28, where students from each group shared the results of what they learned in the project. Mr. Yu Kwok Wai appreciates the performance of the participating students and felt the enthusiasm and creativity of the students. He finds the event meaningful in achieving mutual learning between the mentors and mentees and spreading the idea of social responsibility.
